This site is dedicated to all the activities of the BJFL. Our main focus is to present you all with up to date information with regards to mini, youth and girls football in and around Burton on Trent.
There is a message forum where you will find information regarding meetings, match reports and general BJFL information. This site also has a direct link to
FullTime where all the BJFL fixtures and tables are updated regularly. We currently provide football for 330+ teams from 4 Counties, youth (U12 - U18), Girls (U11 - U14), Mini-soccer (U8- U10) and 9v9 at U11.
The aim of the BJFL is to bring a safe, positive and competitive environment for grassroots football.
Reformed in 1988 after being out of existence for some 5 years when it was disbanded by some thoughtless individuals who didn’t want local children to enjoy themselves playing football in a controlled environment close to home, the BJFL has finally managed to claw back the teams who left in those dark days and has steadily grown into the successful league it is today.
Various league Chairman and committee members have come and gone in that time but following the introduction of Mini or Small Sided Soccer in the 98/99 Season the league has hardly looked back.
In that season the league had some 37 11-a-side teams all playing Sunday afternoons from ages U12 to 15 plus 16 x. U9 Mini Soccer teams playing 7-a-side all at one venue (Belvedere Park) every Saturday morning.
The introduction of the Small Sided game in the BJFL was piloted by the current Chairman who took over the reins in 99/2000 Season.
Since then the committee has been built up into a hardworking unit with 15 people giving up their spare time to devote themselves into ensuring that the children of Burton and the surrounding area’s have one of the best leagues in the Midlands to play in.
During this time the league has grown and now boasts some 316 teams (nearly 3500 players) coming from 70 different clubs performing every weekend, this includes the very successful Girls League which was introduced some three years ago and has attracted teams from various locations including Alfreton, Ashby, Derby, Markfield, Penkridge, Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield.
All this activity costs a lot of money to keep it running smoothly and we are always on the look out for sponsors to come on board no matter how small or large their contribution.
Let’s hope The BJFL gets its wish and more money and better facilities will come along in the not too distant future.
